The End, She is nigh
By: Paddy | September 25th, 2008Depor 0-0 Osasuna
I tried to warn ye all, you can’t say I didn’t, but no, you wouldn’t listen to me, you said, ‘But Paddy, Don’t be so negative, a nil nil draw will never happen’. Well look at you all now, you should be ashamed of your self. Thats why I’m the web log writing guy and you’re the idiot stupid enough to read this. Of course the vast majority of my adoring fans heeded my prediction without questioning it, and thus made a tidy profit placing their childrens college fund on the result.
Seriously though, it is worrying how Depor have slowed down considerably after the Real match, and also quite frankly it is worrying that in the last 2 games we have picked up 2 red cards, even if both were questionable. The last thing we need is a numerical inferiority. I thought at the time that the international break would be a help as we didn’t have much away on duty and it could give the summer signings time to become more acclimatised, but it doesn’t look that way now.
The main problem with the team (and Osasuna fortunately enough) is the lack of firepower. Obvious enough really, but the selling of Xisco doesnt look like the smartest move of all time, especially considering we didnt get a huge sum for his services. Bravo was a loss, no doubt, and will in time become an integral part of the team, but I am quite disillusioned about loaning Adrian out, maybe he is not ready for the first team yet, but with the lack of quality strikers, we would mature quicker I feel. Anyways thats beside the ‘point’. (Get it? Its a play on words, we gained a point last night!!!….God I’m hilarious)
Much like the match at the weekend this was actually quite a fun 0-0 draw and there could easily enough have being a few goals. Also the lads did well to hold on for a half after de Guzman got sent off, so credit there too, but still those 2 extra points wouldn’t have gone astray. Lotina made a number of changes from the weekend, to freshen things up and it worked to an extent, the lads got stuck into the match and created a few openings, even having a goal, correctly it must be said, disallowed.
After de Guzman was sent off Lotina was clearly happy enough to get a point, bringing on Verdu & Pablo Alvarez to steady the ship and it worked too. Osasuna didnt create that much but I must say Masoud impressed me and looks like a decent capture.
Next up for Los Herculinos is a trip to the Mestella on Sunday to take on Valencia. Oh Hurrah
