Take That Newcastle! and other ‘Revelations’

By: Paddy | September 23rd, 2008

After plundering our little city for two of our superior players in recent weeks, Fabrizio Colocinni and Xisco (the footballer not the rapper, who fortunately we still own) in case you have been living under a rock, it has emerged that Miguel Angel Lotina, our infallible manager and all round super star sex god, has rejected the somewhat questionable advances of Geordieland.

Said he: ‘I had a call, I don’t know if it was from someone very close to the club (Newcastle) or not because there are so many businessmen that you never know, to see if I would be interested.’ “I told them no because I have a contract and I’m not thinking of any other team. I nipped it in the bud.’ “I’m happy at Depor and my intention is to continue here until 30th June.”

While undoubtedly relieving news, it is quite worrying that he has failed to commit past the end of the season, as undoubted progress has been made during last season and the beginning of this season.

In fact Depor had a helping hand in Newcastle and King Kev parting ways as it turns out that the ex manager wanted to sign players that he had actually heard of, instead of little known Galician hip-hop goal getters. (Xisco not Coloccini). So Looks like Fog on the Tyne is all ours

Mallorca….zzz

Although not an awful match, in fact quite an enjoyable one, a victory hear would have been much welcome especially after the Brann fiasco, but all in all a point wasn’t ultra bad. Omar Bravo hardly deserved to be sent off for what was in my opinion a 50-50, and in fact he has been included for the Osasuna match tomorrow in hope that it will be rescinded. Not an awful pile more to say about this match, although the lack of goals is worrying, and the fact is that this is the kind of match we need to be winning to progress from last season

Match Highlight (I’m not kidding, just one highlight)

Depor vs Osasuna

Right well I’ll try and write a bit of a preview for this. Osasuna are a club we have fared well against in the past, this is the perfect opportunity to kick start the season. I suppose it could be seen similiarly for Osasuna, so theres a lot at stake, even at this early stage of the season. Looking at Osasuna’s team that played against Valencia, there doesnt seem to be that much firepower there (sound familiar?) with possibly the exception of Javier Portillo, and Monreal to an extent, but I feel that this is a match we can definately win if we can break them down. Thats the big if though as they looked rock solid against Valencia before getting one of their defenders sent off, and I think its fair to say Valencia have more firepower than SuperDepor.

Internet bookies are quoting Osasuna around 11-8 with Depor 15-8 and the draw 2-1. These odds indicate that its going to be a tight match with maybe one goal between the teams either way. However I feel that a draw is more likely and given the defensive adeptness of both teams I’m gonna plump for a no score bore!

Predicted Line Up:

Arunzubia
Laure, Lopo, Ze Castro, Felipe
Alvarez, Sergio, de Guzman, Guardado
Valeron,
Bravo (Mista if suspended)

MOTM : Ricardo (Osasuna)

Strange SuperDepor Fact of the Day: Deportivo named their ground La Riazor after the name of the ship in 1935 Errol Flynn swashbuckler, Captain Blood

Oh by the way, I’m Paddy, and this my superior Deportivo La Coruna Blog.Probably should have mentioned that at the start of the post
