La Liga in the Bag?
By: Paddy | November 10th, 2008Another week, another victory. At this stage of the season one must think that the domestic honours are in the kitty and its time that we started concentrating on Europe.
Espanyol were the opponents at the Riazor on Sunday and Depor were able to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory, surely a performance of Champions elect. The goal came in the 37th minute of the match, Angel Lafita picked out Guardado in the area and the winger drove home an angled shot which gave Carlos Kameni no chance.
It was the Mexico midfielder’s first goal of the season and was no more than he deserved after beginning the move with an impressive dribble.
The goal came somewhat against the run of play because Espanyol had dominated possession in the minutes leading up to the goal and could have gone ahead themselves. But from thereon out Depor were able to boss proceedings and deserved the three points. Next up is a visit to the capital to take on Athletico.
MOTM A toss up between Arunzubia and Guardado, but I shall give it to the goalkeeper, solely for that save from Sergio Sanchez
Highlights
People have been wondering why I don’t like Andres Guardado that much even though is our best player Well I’ll reveal all, a few years ago I was on holiday in Mexico City, and I must said I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However on my last day there I was robbed by a long haired punk, I caught up with him and demanded my money back. To my horror I found out it was none other than Andres Guardado. I showed him the error of his ways and told him to better himself, and pick up a hobby. He did, playing soccer-It was mainly my influence that got him there, but as soon as he got there he fired me, much like Rocky and Tommy Gunn is Rocky V (The greatest Rocky picture). However I do admire his talents and bear no grudges.
Strange but True Depor Fact of the Day The notion that Miguel Lotina has a memory of only three seconds is completely false. He hasbeen trained to navigate mazes and can recognize his players after an exposure of a few months

I can’t wait til Atleti-Depor next weekend. It’ll be a good match, we will fight tooth and nail for that 6th place spot (pathetic, yes I know).
