All I want for Christmas is a Deportivo la Coruna Blog

Get it while its hot! It’s the bumper SuperDepor Christmas Edition!

First and foremost From all at the Depor Offside may I wish all my loyal followers the merriest, the merriest, The merriest? Yes the merriest, the merriest Christmas.

There’s plenty of reviews, puzzles, lies and Andres Guardado bashing ahead so lets waste no further pleasantries on each other.

Depor 4 – 1 Recreativo

Depor won again on Sunday. Still in seventh but now just a mere 3 points away from the Champions league places as we head into the Christmas break. The#is was a match the lads dominated from start to finish, going 2-0 up after 20 minutes through Alberto Lopo and Sergio Gonsalez, the latter goal being a penalty. Recreativo then got a peno of their own which the converted but the two goal gap was quickly restored by Bodipo. And to put the icing on the cake Felipe Luis scored a succulent chip in the last minute to seal the victory

Highlights

Depor 1-0 Nancy

Depor qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup last Wednesday, they left it late but there still there, where they will meet Aalborg in the last 32, and if they should get by that hurdle Copenhagen or Man City will be awaiting them in them in the round of 16. I’m happy enough with this as its always respectable to get out of your group but I won’t be losing any sleep if they get knocked out. The league is the main priority I think now.

Highlights

The Annual Paddy O’Brien Super Depor Awards

Best coach: It was a tight call but I’ll give it to Miguel Lotina
Best match: The Real Madrid game in August
Best player: In fairness Guardado deserves this bong
Best Signing: Although Ze Castro has been impressive he’s only a loan thus far and so I reckon Daniel Arunzubia
Best Depor Blog: Paddy over at the Depor Offside

Feel Free to give a Paddy O’Brien Super Depor award to anyone you want. They’re more prestigious than the Oscars in some parts of the world you know.

Miguel Lotina :D irty Ol’ Bastard?

A few weeks ago the loveable old rogue himself gave an interview for the Spanish version of FHM. Basically he had to talk about beautiful women. It makes for strange reading

FHM: Sexiest Movie?
Lotina: Parent Trap – Dennis Quaid and Lindsay Lohan- Perfect Casting

FHM: OK. Any other stars you’d do?
Lotina: All female cast members of High School Musical. Except for the old ones.

FHM: I think I’m gonna have to stop this interview before we get into serious trouble
Lotina: OK

Interview with the Vampire, I mean Blogger

This interview was in the Times, World famous Blogger and notorious recluse Paddy O’Brien (pictured below left) has given his first ever interview, here’s how it went.

Q: HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU HEAR PEOPLE LIKE GEORGE BUSH BEING REFERRED TO AS PADDY O@BRIEN?
OBRIEN: I know. Please stop. I know we share a birthday but no… You’re leaving me open. I could just slam that hunk. Let’s see. What rhymes with Paddy? Saddy? No. We have nothing to do with that, believe me. No.

Q: HOW DO YOU FEEL GOING BACK TO THESE CHARACTERS? IS IT DIFFICULT?
O’BRIEN: I love it. It reminds me of Eugene O’Neill’s father in ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’. He played it for 33 years. I’m like, ‘I get that.’ [Laughs]

Q: HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR CHARACTER?
O’BRIEN: He goes down to see his father who, by the way, is a full blooded Indian. He came from a society that was absolutely archaic compared to the modern man. So it’s as though he was going to go back into the world where he existed [in the first place.] It’s a primitive existence, a hard existence. It’s not surrounded by people. It’s surrounded by horses and nature, whatever. That’s where he belongs. When he’s confronted with people and society, the rage and that indignity start to build up. What it is, is that he defends people that can’t defend themselves. It isn’t like he goes out and looks for trouble, but he embraces it. That’s why when the missionaries came up he was so conflicted. ‘You’re not going to change anything, but I’ll take you there.’ It’s like the warrior needs to war.

Q: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE LEGACY WILL BE WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE?
O’BRIEN: The legacy? Who’s legacy? Mine? Oh, God. It’s ying and yang. I think that some of the upcoming bloggers will look at me as this archaic, kind of like prehistoric creature that belonged to a certain bygone genre that no longer exists because now we’ve become much more scientific, less personal. Most of my peers were very physical. Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and Bruce [Willis] – they were just more hands on. I think that a lot of bloggers today are hands off and they’re more intellectual. So I think that it’ll be like what it’s like when you go back to the Natural Museum of History and you’re looking at a Pterodactyl.

Q: PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST RIDICULOUS BLOGS THAT WE’VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME.
O’BRIEN: Not one of the most. The most. I worked very hard for this. [Laughter] I’m only kidding.

Q: HOW HARD WAS IT TO GET THE MPAA TO GIVE YOU AN ‘R’ RATING FOR THIS BLOG?
O’BRIEN: They were conflicted, but you’re dealing with a real subject. As we’re speaking right now, people are dying and being tortured in the most brutal fashion you could ever even imagine and this blog will show that. If we’re going to do anything that actually uses this medium [for something] besides entertaining, it is to perhaps save a few lives and bring an awareness to this. Please don’t water it down. Yes. Babies are being decimated. Women are being raped. There’s piracy.

Q: WHAT WAS THE TOUGHEST PART OF THIS WHOLE ENDEAVOR?
O’BRIEN: The toughest part, I think for sure the night rescue because we had 28 days of nights. It’s 2 hours to get there and because of the rain it was driving up a lot of the snakes and the centipedes which you just have no idea. It looks like a hotdog with legs and it is brutal. So we had a real problem with that.

Q: I READ THAT YOU HAD A SNAKE ON YOUR LEG.
O’BRIEN: Yeah. Snake on the leg. That was me. We couldn’t afford CGI snakes and so the best thing we could do was go, ‘Oh, there’s a King Cobra. Great. Thanks.’ For real. And then we’d use scotch tape to try and keep him there, but I didn’t realize that they go like this. [Shows how a snake slithers] They’re not like alligators where you can hold them. Oh my God. So we have a lot of that on the blog. It’ll be fun.

Q: DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO NEXT?
O’BRIEN: I’d like a sandwich

Paddy’s Christmas Gift to You

Watch and be happy

And Andres Guardado if you are reading this I want to wish you and yours a merry Christmas

NOT!!

Super Depor Fact of the Day Luis Felipe does not engage in suicidal dives off cliffs when migrating. He will, however, occasionally, and unintentionally fall off cliffs when venturing into unknown territory, with no knowledge of the boundaries of the environment. The misconception is due largely to the Disney film White Wilderness, which shot many of the migration scenes (also staged by using multiple shots of different groups of Luis Felipe) on a large, snow-covered turntable in a studio. Photographers later pushed the Luis Felipe off a cliff
